Many times, we as followers are easily blinded by what sounds good and pleasing to our ears. We follow because of emotions, excitement, or promises, not always because of truth. This shows how easy it is for people to be led in the wrong direction when we do not carefully reflect on what we are hearing. On the other hand, Jesus wants his followers to be enlightened and to follow him for the right reasons. He does not simply use flowery words to attract people, but he speaks the truth, even when it is difficult to accept.
As followers, we are challenged to listen carefully and to see beyond appearances. We must not just be impressed by words but also by actions that reveal sincerity and sacrifice. Following Jesus means choosing the harder but truer path, not just the easier way that looks attractive on the surface. As followers of Christ, we need to ask ourselves: Why do we follow Him? Is it because of blessings and miracles, or is it because we truly believe in His teachings? True discipleship calls us to carry our cross and remain faithful even when it is difficult.
