Listening to the Spirit

Lord teaches us to love my family and friends as you love me. By doing this, we will be able to show to others that we are your disciples. Open our hearts and minds so that we will able to pounder the love that you show us through your death on the cross and your resurrection.

Listening to the Word

John 13:31-33a, 32-35

When Judas had left them, Jesus said, “Now is the Son of Man glorified, and God is glorified in him. If God is glorified in him, God will also glorify him in himself, and he will glorify him at once. My children, I will be with you only a little while longer. I give you a new commandment: love one another. As I have loved you, so you also should love one another. This is how all will know that you are my disciples, if you have love for one another.”

Reflection

Last Sunday, we listen to the word of God that said, “My sheep hear my voice: I know them, and they follow me…” Let us try to go deep and looking for the reason behind those words: why the sheep was able to listen and follow the Shepherd. For me, the only reason is the love of the shepherd toward the sheep and the experience of love that the sheep received. Without this experience of love, the sheep will not have the reason to listen and follow.

The love of God makes everything new. The love that able to make a connection and communication between the sheep and the shepherd: the creature and the creator. The Lord asks us to do the same, “Love one another.” This command of love is not an ordinary command. The love that we have to do is love as the Lord loves us. The measurement is not human love but God’s love. To be able to love as God loves us requires our deep experience of God’s love.

The love that we offer to others depends on how deep and big is our experience of God’s love. So let us open our minds and hearts that we will be able to see and feel the love of God in our lives. Let us look on the Cross of Christ, the proof of everlasting love, the greater love by laying himself for others. Our learning about the love of God will help us to continue our mission to love one another.
