When I was in Elementary School, my teacher showed us an experiment with a magnifying glass. At that time, the sun was shining. My teacher invited us to go to the court. He brought a paper and the magnifying glass. Then he sat down, put the paper on the floor and he held the magnifying glass over the paper. And his students sat down around him and saw what would happen. Then I saw a small brown dot in White paper. Then, the dot became bigger and bigger, turned color became black then began to burn.  As a child, it was amazing to see all of this.

Then my teacher taught us why it’s happened. He said that sunlight carries a lot of energy. When a magnifying glass is held over a piece of paper, the solar energy spread over the lens’ surface area gets concentrated at one point and the paper gets heated and starts burning. The paper was burned because the magnifying glass help to concentrate the solar energy.

Brothers and sisters, I remember this experience after I read our gospel today. After a person found a treasure, out of joy, he goes and sells all that he has and buys that field. Now, he focuses on one thing, the treasure.

When I was in the minor seminary, I had a kind of crisis. Then, came up to my mind, a lot of philosophical and existential questions: Why am I living? What is the purpose of this life? What does happiness mean? At that time I was aware that my life is too short. I had to chose the most important and valuable in this life.

Then, this invited me to think about Jesus and God in my life. I can say that in this life, God is the center, God is so important. I felt to find a treasure in my life. That why now, although sometimes I failed, I focus on Jesus and became a missionary. Family, career, homeland, money, etc. all these are good, but my energy, my life focus on Jesus. I am following Jesus as a missionary.
