Many of us bear significant burdens in our daily lives, and these burdens significantly impact our hearts. There are many struggles that we face in our lives; some of us have family problems, sicknesses, stress, financial struggles, uncertainty, and fear about the future. Sometimes, these challenges can be overwhelming, leaving us feeling hopeless and unable to see beyond our current situation. Like Mary Magdalene and the other women who went to the tomb with the expectation to meet the dead body of Jesus (Mark 16:1), we often limit our expectations in the same way.
However, Easter is inviting us into a different reality; it is leading us into a story of transformation. Mary Magdalene encountered something greater than expected. The tomb is empty. The Lord is risen. What seems like a defeat now becomes a victory. This is a clear message that our struggles are not the end of the story. The risen Lord invites us to shift our focus away from our struggles, worries, and anything else that paralyzes us and to fix our eyes on Him. We are also invited to let go of the things that burden us and trust that the risen Lord has the power to take away our sorrows. Easter is a moment to restore hope with the belief that even in the most difficult moments, God is at work in our lives, giving us a new life.
To witness the joy that comes with the resurrection, we have to play our role, to actively seek the risen Lord. This search is not always easy. There are certain times when God seems distant from us and moments when the path that leads to Him seems uncertain. We are invited to search for him with unwavering faith even when the journey becomes difficult or when the road seems obscure. We are encouraged to persevere and pray trusting that God himself will remove the obstacles that stops us from finding Him. Searching for the risen Lord goes beyond our fears and doubts, trusting that God’s grace is at work in our lives. Christ makes the difficult paths simple, straightens us, and leads us into His presence.
When we finally discover the risen Lord, something changes within us. We will be filled with joy, a joy that cannot be explained by circumstances alone. We will discover that we are loved, redeemed, and never alone. This encounter with the Lord brings peace in the midst of despair and brings light in the presence of darkness. When we encounter Him, we will have a new sense of purpose and meaning. Our life will be renewed, transformed, and filled with the desire to live a meaningful life.
What next after encountering the risen Lord? Just as Mary Magdalene, who went to share the good news with the other disciples (John 20:18), so we too are invited to share the good news of the risen Lord with others. This counter compels us to pursue our mission so that others can encounter the risen Lord in their own lives through us. We are called to share our hope, encourage those who suffer, and let them know they are not alone. The joy of Easter becomes complete when we share it.
To end with, Easter invites us to show out our joy through our actions. We are called to bring hope to the hopeless, comfort to the sorrowful, and love to those in need by giving them a helping hand. We are called to be instruments of Christ’s light to the oppressed. We are also invited to reach out to those who are burdened and offer compassion to those who are forgotten. It is through our actions that we become living signs of the Resurrection.
