In the dynamism of exercising the service of Leadership, the General direction represented by the general superior, Fernando Garcia, and the councilor, Fr. Eugenio Pulcini, visited the Delegation of Xaverian Missionaries in the Philippines from February 18 to March 15, 2019. It is a moment of grace for our delegation to welcome them and let them discover the opportunities and challenges of the delegation. Upon their arrival, they had an opportunity to visit our four different communities: two houses of formation and two parishes.
From February 19-28, The General direction held a personal meeting with each member of the community of theology, Novitiate, and Postulancy. On Saturday, February 22, Fr. Fernando Garcia and Fr. The meeting ended with an open forum of questions and answers. Besides the meeting with formation committee and vocation committee, they visited also the Xaverian Parishes of our delegation: St. Francis Xavier Parish (Diocese of Novaliches) and Our Lady of Guadalupe Parish in Marikina (Diocese of Antipolo). On March 1-3, the General direction also visited the Xaverian Community of Philosophy, St. Francis Xavier Seminary in Project 8, Quezon City.
On March 4, all perpetual and temporary profess participated in the plenary assembly presided by the General Direction in which the documents of the XVII General Chapter were given emphasis. There were clarifications on the charismatic identity of the congregation, Xaverian formation, communion with the Xaverian lay missionaries, financial management and government, mission, communication, and culture. The meeting ended with the Xaverian response on the necessity of protecting the minors and psychologically vulnerable people in the Church. Then, on March 5, the General Direction held also an assembly with the perpetual profess confreres that culminated with the Eucharistic celebration in the chapel of theology house. Meanwhile, the General Direction preached the recollection to the Theologate and Novitiate community since some students were preparing themselves to receive the ministry of Lectorate and acolyte on March 9.
