OUR RALLYING CRY
Scripture reading (Dt 6:3–9)
Hear therefore, O Israel, and be careful to do them; that it may go well with you, and that you may multiply greatly, as the Lord, the God of your fathers, has promised you, in a land flowing with milk and honey.
“Hear, O Israel: The Lord our God is one Lord; and you shall love the Lord your God with all your heart, and with all your soul, and with all your might. And these words which I command you this day shall be upon your heart; and you shall teach them diligently to your children, and shall talk of them when you sit in your house, and when you walk by the way, and when you lie down, and when you rise. And you shall bind them as a sign upon your hand, and they shall be as frontlets between your eyes. And you shall write them on the doorposts of your house and on your gates.

“God is our first beginning and our last end and this is why we must strive to reach him with our entire being. Our intelligence is made for knowledge, our heart for love and our will for action; therefore, to know God, love God and serve God is the reason why we are here on earth. Anyone who aspires to Christian perfection, and wishes to express in a few words a resolution that sums up all resolutions only has to resolve to see God, love God and seek God in all”.
Personal reflection
Conforti tells us that every well-ordered Christian life must be summed up in a formula that gives “unity to all its actions”. This is truly important. Many people are poorly organized in their spiritual work, and quite ignorant of the function, value and use of the means of sanctification. They have no direction that can centralize, orient and simplify their life and are bereft of that light that comes from what we could call the “central idea”. (Fr. Amato Dagnino)
