The beginning of my life as a postulant

| Camilo Lazaga Magdula Jr.

I am Camilo Lazaga Magdula Jr. from Mindanao, Province of Bukidnon. I am coming from a family that has been always with me in my human-spiritual journey. After finishing my four years of formation in the Xaverian community and the four years of studies with a bachelor degree of Philosophy in Project 8, Quezon City, I decided to enter postulancy, a specific and decisive period, live in the community, that is required for an appropriate preparation to Novitiate. It is my own free will and desire as a continuation of my formation towards religious missionary life.

Today (July 13, 2019) marks the beginning of my life as a postulant. Receiving the crucifix as a sign, not of the difficulties that I am going to encounter throughout the journey but the sign that reveals the fidelity and love of the Lord for me. To receive the crucifix is also a sign of my desire to belong to the Xaverian Missionary family. It is my expression of my love to the crucified One, Christ, and of my desire to offer my life as a Xaverian to the evangelization of non-Christians. Despite my flaws, weaknesses, and uncertainties that I have, there is a leap and a conversion of my heart and mind that allows God to enter into my life to be formed and to see clearly the vocation that He has given to me.

Perhaps, Postulancy is the best time to go in freedom regarding perceptions, judgments and so-called mental slavery, and to develop a rapport within myself. I believe that by knowing myself, it is to know the will of God for me. May the Lord God bless me throughout this journey of discernment.
