In the Gospel of Luke, Jesus met ten lepers who cried out, “Master, have pity on us!” Without asking who they were or where they came from, He healed them all. What is striking here is that Jesus did not choose—He did not separate the Jew from the Samaritan, the clean from the unclean, the worthy from the unworthy. He looked at their faith, not their background. His mercy was not limited by human divisions; it flowed freely to anyone who believed.
This reminds us that God’s love is never exclusive. Jesus’ healing power is for everyone who comes to Him in faith. Sometimes, people are quick to judge who deserves kindness or forgiveness, but Jesus shows us a different way—the way of unconditional compassion. His healing reminds us that, in the eyes of God, all are equal and worthy of love. What truly matters is not who we are, but how much we trust in Him.
Finally, only one of the ten lepers returned to give thanks—and that one was a Samaritan, an outsider. It was his gratitude that made his healing complete. In the same way, our faith finds its fullness when it leads us back to Jesus in thanksgiving. Let us learn from His example: to love without choosing, to serve without judgment, and to welcome everyone with the same open heart that Jesus showed to the ten lepers.
