What Kind of Peace Do I Seek?

| Gabriel Delos Santos

This Gospel reminds me that love is not just about feelings—it is about faithfulness. Jesus says, “Those who love me will keep my word.” As a seminarian, these hits close to home. I chose this path because I want to love Jesus more deeply, and part of that love means listening to Him and living according to His teachings.

What’s most beautiful here is Jesus’ promise: if we love Him, the Father will love us, and they will make their home in us. God wants to live in us—not just visit, but stay. That gives me great comfort, especially when I feel weak or unsure of my calling.

Jesus also promises the Holy Spirit, our Advocate, who will teach and remind us of everything He said. It reminds me that I’m not alone in this journey. Even when I don’t understand everything, the Holy Spirit is there to guide me.

Lastly, Jesus gives us His peace—not like the world gives, but a deep, lasting peace. This gives me courage to move forward, even when the road is hard. I don’t need to be afraid. He is going ahead of me, and He is with me. That’s enough.

So today, I simply ask for the grace to love Jesus more, to keep His word faithfully, and to trust in His peace.
