Context. This a Poem based on St. Guido Maria Conforti’s fifth Circular Letter which we call the Testament Letter.
The purpose was to draw a summary and main Ideas of the Testament Letter with a poetical taste.
Form: As a poem, it contains some poetical devices to make it sound beautiful like rhyme, repetition, alliteration etc. With the intension to remain faithful to the author of the Letter Testament this poem contains many and mixed poetical forms which makes it simply a FREE VERSE. For a free verse poem, the concern is not really the rhymes or patterns but the message to transmit. That is why lines, stanzas can vary freely in length, rhyme and subject.
NOBLE AND SUBLIME
Increase your zeal. We’ve got a vocation To make the world a single family Noble and sublime is such a vocation, Of that, be persuaded extremely God’s greatest benevolence is such a vocation.
The apostolic life Is in itself the most perfect life In God with Jesus Christ, hidden is our life The beginning of new life.
It is precisely because of the apostolic life United to religious life That Satan magnifies the difficulties of a vowed life Let us always treasure the vowed life Mindful that religious profession makes us Christ-like The prototype of those predestined to eternal life.
Let’s love poverty If it lacks none of life’s comfort, it is not pleasing to God Let’s love and cultivate chastity It makes us similar to the Angels and pleasing to God Its best protection is humility Let’s treasure the sacrifice of our will to God Vita vestra est abscondita cum Christo (in God) Servi inutiles sumus (in God)
Cultivate constantly the supernatural life Tender devotion to Mary, mother of Life Cultivate tender devotion to the saints; Work for salvation of others And do not neglect your own Thus says Alphonsus de Liguori, a saint. To Christ, win many souls, first your own, Then, countless others.
Above all, love God He who loves God Must also love his brother O Divine master, give them Unity of mind and heart Brothers, all of them With a single mind and heart.
