The Lord who calls you will find ways where it seems to be no way

| Cassien Nshimirimana, SX

My name is Cassien Nshimirimana, I am 30 years old. I am Burundian from Kiganda in  Muramvya Province and I am Xaverian Missionary.

I am the youngest in the family of 8 siblings. I studied junior high school at Lycee St Peter and Paul of Kiganda and graduated in Arts section at  Lycee Scheppers of Nyakabiga. I had many friends from different confessions who helped me to get closer to God and be open to others’ believes. I had a project to become a Basketball player and to study medicine. The dream was about to happen when the government granted me to study the faculty of Medicine.

Meanwhile, when I was in grade 12, I was a member of Xaverian Movement. One day my schoolmate told me about Xaverian Missionaries and I was curious to know who are they and what they do. The commonality between Xaveri Movement and Xaverian Missionaries is their Patron, Saint Francis Xavier who died on the way to evangelize China. I joined the Xaverian monthly meetings and discernment and was accompanied first by Fr. Modesto and then Fr. Ruben. Due to my Personal encounter with Christ, I was attracted by not only the simple lifestyle of Xaverian but also charism of proclaiming the Good News to Non-Christians as a response to Christ’ commission and the dream of both St Francis Xavier and Guido Maria Conforti.

In the initial stage of my journey, even though some members of my family and friends were against my choice, I decided to join the Xaverians to share the love of Christ with those who do not know him. Since then, this biblical icon ‘Who will separate us from the Love of Christ?’ (Rom 8, 38) has been my motto.

Today I am studying Theology in the Xaverian International Community of Manila, Philippines. My dream mission for the future is to non-Christians.

I would like to invite the youth to be open to God’s call which sometimes comes in a surprising and unexpected way. You may experience internal and external resistances but the Lord who calls you will find ways where it seems to be no way.
