29th SUNDAY IN ORDINARY TIME SHORT REFLECTION
In the Gospel today, Jesus tells us a parable about the necessity for us to pray always without becoming weary. We can see in the gospel a widow who persistently pleads with the judge who is known as dishonest and unrighteous, to give her support in her case against her adversary.
Reflecting on this passage, I see myself as the widow in the sense that I always ask and call the attention of God for him to give me an answer and grant my prayer. Sometimes I wonder: why God doesn’t answer my prayer right away? I tend to question the goodness of God when I see that my prayers and intentions are not answered. However, Jesus reminds me not to grow weary but to have faith and perseverance whenever I pray. Every day, he keeps reminding me that as long as I believe and call him, he will grant all my prayers. If a widow could continue asking and calling the judge's attention, how much more must I have faith and perseverance whenever I pray to God? Surely, He will always grant my prayers in his own time and in ways that I may not fully be aware of.
